Prestwick Holiday Park
The Rules
The Park Rules are in place for the good management and smooth operation of Prestwick Holiday Park and are intended to be for the benefit of all who use the park. The same rules apply to touring caravans and motor homes.
Park rules do not affect anything to which you are entitled.
The expression ‘you’/’your’ means the Caravan owner and/or occupier [and this includes anyone using the Caravan]. The expression ‘we’/’us’/’our’ refers to the park owner and/or management.
Please make sure that anyone using the caravan is aware of and observes the park rules.
You are reminded that breach of these rules could result in the removal of your Holiday Home.
Safety
You should not come to The Park if you have symptoms from Coronavirus. STAY AT HOME.
You should use the park safely and should not cause danger to others.
You should obey all health and safety notices displayed on the park and act on the reasonable instructions of park staff in matters of health and safety.
Wear a mask in public areas and maintain 2 metre social distancing.
Security
You are solely responsible for securing the Caravan.
You may use a silent monitored alarm. Audible alarms can cause nuisance to other customers.
Permitted number of occupiers
Your Static Caravan may not be used for sleeping a number of persons greater than the ‘maximum sleeping capacity’ stipulated for your particular unit. Static caravans, Touring caravans and motor homes must not be used for sleeping a number greater than the number for which it was designed.
Visitors to the Caravan
Only people lawfully staying with your permission have permission to enter the park.
It is your responsibility to ensure that your visitors and all occupiers of your Caravan adhere to the park rules.
Ejection on grounds of behaviour
In the event of persistent or serious misconduct by you, a member of your family, your occupiers, visitors or guests, we will give relevant notice. We do not have to follow any formal procedure to eject other visitors.
Condition of Caravan
You must not change the colour of the exterior of the Caravan without prior consent in writing. The exterior panels must be kept in good order, any damaged panels must be replaced with new panels from the manufacturer. Decking must be maintained. NO BLACK DECKS.
Your Pitch
You are responsible for the cleanliness of the Caravan pitch. You are responsible for keeping the area around the Caravan clean and tidy. Garden Gnomes, wee additional gardens or plastic flowers are not permitted.
Static Holiday Homes End of Season
It is your responsibility to drain down and prepare the Caravan for the closed season, turning off all gas and electrics.
MAKE SURE YOU TURN OFF YOUR STOP COCK. If you have a burst pipe, some insurance companies will not validate your claim if this is not turned this off.
During the closed season, both ourselves and Police Scotland, recommend that the curtains of your Caravan are drawn back, and all items of value removed.
Utilities Installations
You must switch off all gas, electricity and water connections when the Caravan is not occupied. Make sure that the water stop cock is turned off.
A maximum of TWO 47Kg Calor Gas bottles are permitted at each unit. When the Caravan is being used only one bottle should be open at any time. (The bottle connected and being used, should be the only one ‘open’.) The spare bottle should be turned off at the neck.
You must purchase Calor Gas from the office for use on the park. You cannot bring gas bottles onto The Park from other companies, we cannot exchange or dispose of these. An empty ‘Calor Gas Cylinder’ is exchanged for a cylinder full of ‘Calor Gas’. A full bottle can only be issued if you have the correct cylinder. (Please note that you are paying for the GAS not a BOTTLE.) A Calor Gas cylinder is £27.26 for a 19kg and £47.75 for a 47kg, this is a one-off charge and is not refunded by Calor Gas.
If you are experiencing any problems with the park’s electricity, gas or water system, you should contact us. You must not attempt to work on any part of the park’s electricity, gas or water system yourself; this includes any installations on the pitch. The code for electricity boxes is 2428.
Interference with site electricity is strictly prohibited and is an offence. Customers found stealing electricity will be removed from The Park.
Drainage System
You must not introduce any foreign items into the drainage system including cleaning cloth, baby wipes, face wipes, babies’ nappies, sanitary towels, condoms, cooking fat, engine oil, grease or paint. The system cannot operate properly and will become blocked.
Tents
You must not erect any tents on the park.
Enclosure of Pitches and Decking
Slabs, storage boxes, steps, verandas or decking must be approved by reception.
We do not permit the erection of fences or any means of enclosure of a caravan pitch.
Installation of decking must be discussed with the office. Constructed by the park approved joiner, to the scale agreed and painted in an agreed colour of either cream or sage green.
We do not allow BLACK decks, or plastic decks.
Each caravan can have a storage box of a uniform size. Any additional box will have an additional annual charge.
SKY DISH – can be erected as long as it is within the confines of the caravan base and decking area. It should not be in a position where it can interfere or cause harm to a member of staff or others and must be approved by the office.
Trees and Shrubs
You must not cut any trees or hedges at the park. If you find any trees or hedges a nuisance or unsatisfactory you should take the matter up with us; do not deal with it yourself.
Do not plant trees or shrubs around your caravan.
Trees in pots must be retained within your decking or between your caravan and walkway. This is to allow for a uniform look and allow the lawn mowers clear access to your pitch.
Wee gardens, gnomes and plastic plant pots are considered to be out of context with the mood of The Park. Please resist the temptation of turning us into a mini Blackpool.
Washing
Static caravans may only use portable washing dryer on decking and must remove them and store them out of sight immediately after use. Do not put free standing washing outside your caravan. You can use the drying lines at the side of the laundry room.
You must not drape washing lines; these are unsightly and cause nuisance to another caravan owner.
A laundry room is provided on the park. The machines are token operated. Tokens can be purchased from the office or the café-bar. Wear your mask in the laundry room and do not enter if someone else is on the premises.
Washing machines are not accepted in private holiday caravans, or in storage boxes. These facilities incur additional costs and drain the water supply.
Digging
You must not dig any holes at the park.
Flags
Flags of any sort are not permitted on The Park.
Refuse
You must not deposit refuse outside your Caravan, you should use the refuse area provided in the main at the centre of the park. Wear your mask and a one in one out policy exists. We encourage you to use the recycling facilities provided. We have issued you with a recycling bag, please use it. We have general waste in the BURGUNDY euro bins, you should double bag your general waste (Covid-19). We also have euro bins for recycled waste. You must put the correct material in each bin, (paper, bottles, metals & plastic) making sure that it is ‘clean waste’. There is a cage for clean cardboard. Please do not put newspapers or paper into the cardboard cage, or general waste into the recycling bins. South Ayrshire Council regard this as ‘Contaminated material’ and will not remove it. Do not leave large bulky items such as fridges, cookers, microwaves, washing machines, mattresses, barrows, TV’s, Ariel’s, chairs, tables or bicycles. These items can be deposited at local skip at Heathfield.
Vehicles
No commercial vehicles on the park.
You must have insurance for all vehicles you use on the park, just like on the public road (i.e. MOT, insurance, tax).
You must have insurance for all accessories and items towed by vehicles (such as towed boats and jet skis) as for use on the public road.
You must not keep disused or un-roadworthy vehicles anywhere on the park. We reserve the right to remove any vehicle which is apparently abandoned.
You must not carry out the following works or repairs on the park:
- Major vehicle repairs such as dismantling of part(s) of the engine.
- Works which involve the removal of oil or other fuels.
Motor vehicles repairs must not be carried out at The Park, but a recognised breakdown service may attend in the event of a breakdown.
Quad bikes and trial bikes are not permitted on the park.
You must not wash cars with a hosepipe.
Driving
We permit cars onto the park for the purpose of access to the Caravan only. Accordingly, save to the extent that you may need to do so because of a disability, you must not drive cars round the park for other purposes, such as visiting other locations on the park. We may ask for reasonable evidence of any relevant to this rule.
Whilst on the park please stick to the park roads and the one-way system. This is for the benefit and safety of all. You must drive all vehicles on the park carefully and within the speed limit of 8 miles per hour.
Please approach the entrance to the park cautiously, checking for bicycles or scooters using the one-way system. You must hold a full current driving licence to drive any vehicle on the park.
You are not permitted to give anyone driving lessons at the park and we do not permit learner drivers to drive on the park.
Parking
You must not park anywhere except in the permitted parking spaces beside your caravan.
You may park no more than one car per caravan. Additional visitor’s cars must park in the car park.
You must not park on the road, or part of the road.
Other than for delivering goods and services, you must not park or allow parking of commercial vehicles of any sort on the park, including:
- light commercial or light goods vehicles as described in the vehicle taxation legislation.
- vehicles intended for domestic use, but derived from, or adapted from such a commercial vehicle.
Behaviour
We have ZERO tolerance on drugs policy, in line with the local authority South Ayrshire Council.
You should respect the privacy of other Caravan owners and keep noise to a minimum between the hours of 9am and 10pm. With quiet between 10.30pm and 8.30am.
You must not trespass or occupy vacant pitches.
You must finish any barbecues, or party by 10pm.
You may only consume alcoholic drinks within the boundaries of your pitch, or on the park’s licensed premises.
You must not use a drone, powered model aircraft, or any other powered flying object on the park.
You must not use any Chinese lanterns, fireworks or similar on the park. Please check with the office if you have a need for these (for example on November the 5th), so that you can be directed to a safe area to do so.
Scooters and bicycles on the park should follow the one-way system. Being especially cautious on the approach to the entrance of the park.
Pets
Dogs and cats are permitted on the park, please check with the office should you wish to bring another type of pet. Maximum of TWO.
Dogs on the park must be kept on the lead and exercised off of the park.
You must clean up if any animal defecates on the park. Dog fouling is extremely hazardous to young children and will not be tolerated.
If you have more than one pet, you must check with the office. (see information on pets).
You must not bring any breed of dog subject to the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. (see information on pets).
Your pet must not cause any nuisance, undue noise, or disturbance.
Dogs tied up outside caravans should be kept on lead, no more than 10 feet long.
Recreation
No ball games on the park. You may play ball games on the grassy area to the west of the office.
You may not fly kites on the park, should you wish to please use the beach at Prestwick, not Troon, it’s on the flight path.
Do not dig in the large sand dune to the south, just outside of The Park. It can be dangerous.
Shallow water runs around the east and south perimeter of the park and deep water to the west. Please make sure all children are aware of this and keep them out of the water.
Do not go near the railway line, the electricity is live and the trains fast.
Stay out of the field with cows - they are baby bulls.
Fire Precautions (Phone 999)
You must ensure that all occupants of your caravan are familiar with the location of the nearest Fire Alarm Point. (RED mounted BOXES - To sound the ALARM, pull on the two black levers on the left-hand side, the door opens, and the alarm goes off.)
All occupants should report to the Fire Assembly Point to the west of the office, using the roads and staying away from the buildings. (Voluntary Fire Wardens on the park – please listen to them).
You must only have one bottle of gas open at any one time. A maximum of 2 x 47Kg per unit.
If it is safe to do so, turn off the other bottle at the neck when vacating the Caravan.
In the event of an emergency, you must follow the instructions in this pack and report to assembly point A, and make sure that any occupants are aware of the procedure.
You must not store fuels, or combustible materials other than LPG containers on the park.
Fire Hazards : turn off all phone chargers, cigarette chargers, hair straighteners etc. Do not leave these items on standby, make sure they are turned off, when not being monitored. These are a fire hazard and have caused fires both in caravans and in the home.
Running a Business
You cannot run a business from your caravan. Caravans are for Holiday purposes only. Prestwick is a HOLIDAY PARK.
Mail can be collected from the office during the season. This is a Holiday Park; you cannot use it as your main address.
Keys
We request a set of keys for you holiday home and will take reasonable care to maintain the security of these and your holiday home. By issuing a set of keys to the office you enable a quicker response to any maintenance or security requirements.
Hire Out Caravan
You cannot hire out your caravan. Friends and family are fine, as long as they adhere to the rules.
Insurance and Gas Safety
You must ensure that your caravan has adequate Insurance cover, it is a legal requirement.
Please check the details of your insurance certificate, some companies have exclusion dates for frost.
You must ensure that your outside STOP COCK is turned off when you leave the holiday home for a period of time. Some insurance companies insist on this and will not pay out if there is a leak in the unit and the stop cock is still turned on.
Your caravan is supplied with the appropriate gas hose and regulator from Calor Gas. Please do not alter this unless the replacement is of the same BS regulated standard.
You must ensure that all gas appliances are tested annually by a Corgi registered heating engineer. A copy of your Gas Safety Certificate and Insurance Documents must be handed into the Office.
Contact Details
You must ensure that we have accurate contact details a/ home address b/ telephone contact number/ emergency number. If you change your home address, telephone or mobile telephone number, it is important to let us know. Mobile numbers should be provided to the Office, as a means of ‘first contact’, in case of emergencies. Your details will be held by the office on a database and as part of the Fire Registration List, 3 at the front desk of the office and 1 in the pub. The information will not be used for any other purpose, other than that for which it was intended. It will be kept in the office during your stay with us and will be archived for a period of 6 years, after you have left The Park (in line with requirements of the data protection act). Should there be a need to share this information with the authorities, during an emergency, by giving us your details, you are giving us your consent to do so. If you have any concerns regarding this, please ask to speak to the Data Protection Officer (A8257355). Registration Number ZA325734 (GDPR 09/03/2018-08/03/23).
Static Holiday Home Keys
All Static Holiday Home customers on The Park should leave a set of keys with the office. This is so that a Park representative can gain access to your unit in the event of an emergency. The Park will undertake to responsible look after these keys. It is important to give your consent to this, since swift action can be taken in the event of an emergency for example, gas leak, water ingress, open window of empty unit, or occupant taken ill. In most instances a phone call will alert to the act that we intend to use your keys to gain entry. The act of giving us ‘a set of keys’ confirms your agreement to this. Keys are shared with tradesmen who are on The Park to in order to carry out a variety of duties. It is important to use the trusted trades people that the office is familiar with and has confidence in the correct use of your keys.
Static Holiday Homes Sales
All Holiday Homes sales & purchases are arranged through the office. Sales transfer fee is 15% plus vat, on resale of Holiday Homes. All potential customers must first visit the office to assess their suitability for The Park. Only holiday homes, which comply with current BS standards will be sold on the park. Units which do not comply with current BS standard will be sold off of The Park and will have a disconnection fee. There is an additional charge for the removal and disposal of the following: - Front and Side Decking, brick-built step. Additional costs may be incurred if it is necessary to replace the wheels and complete structural welding. All fees must be settled prior to the removal of the unit from The Park. Caravans which do not comply with current BS standards will not be offered for sale on the park. A buyer will be sought from off of the park and the unit be removed from the site (for fees see attached sheet).
