Prestwick Holiday Park

Sales Information

Buying a holiday caravan at Prestwick Holiday Park might just be the best decision you ever made. It can be your ‘happy place’, a bolthole to which to escape to make holidays in our beautiful part of the world. If you are thinking of joining us, here the answers to some of the questions you may already be asking – and others you might be glad we mentioned!

When can I use my holiday caravan?

We are open from the 1st of March until the 31st of October, winter weekends, Christmas & New Year.

What does this mean? We are closed between the 1st of November and the 28th of February.

However, you can use your caravan between the hours of 12noon on a Friday and 12 noon on a Monday, during the CLOSED SEASON.

Whenever you come to see us, you must be taking a holiday. You cannot live in your holiday caravan.

What’s included in the price?

Our price will always include all the carpets, furnishings, kitchen appliances and other basic equipment. There may be options such as double glazing, upgraded insulation, central heating, outlook doors, galvanised chassis and decking.

We will give you our price in writing to ensure there are no surprises later.

What else should I budget for?

We do not charge you extra for having the unit transported from the factory, sited on the pitch, and ‘commissioned’ (made ready for occupation and connected to the utilities). We supply our units with aerial and Calor gas bottles. They are set on membrane, dressed with ‘Quartzag’ chips and tied down with stakes and shackles. This is included in the price quoted. Some parks do charge for these services on top of the price quoted for the caravan, so watch out for this!

Other costs to consider will be annual pitch service charge & fee. Please see attached Price List for current rates. You pay for services for upkeep of the park and the right to occupy your pitch on the park for the year. You will also receive a bill for utilities used by you, such as water, gas and electricity. We will also give you a bill for rates, due to South Ayrshire Council.

You will have to arrange to have your caravan gas safety checked annually, by a qualified engineer and have it adequately covered by an insurance company. We do not charge you for these, but the cost implication must be considered in your annual budget for keeping a holiday caravan. We have attached a current price guide, so that there are no surprises later.

What are The Park Rules?

You should also consider our Park Rules, which are binding on all our customers. Please see the current rules HERE.

We will be happy to provide you with copies of the Park Rules. If you are in need of further explanation, please telephone the office 01292 479261. We want our customers to be happy that what we offer works for them.

What happens if I decide to sell?

The holiday caravan may be offered for sale on the park, provided that the caravan is of the current BS standard. The buyer must come through the park sales office. The park sales office will arrange for a suitable purchaser for the holiday caravan, with the proviso that the unit comply with current BS standard. If the holiday caravan is suitable for selling on the park a transfer fee of 15% + vat will apply. You may also move the holiday caravan off the park. Please be aware that there will be a disconnection fee, (see attached sheet for the current rate).

Can I live in my holiday caravan?

Most definitely not!

You can use your holiday caravan for short breaks and longer holidays, and some retired people spend many of the summer months in their holiday caravan. But it cannot be used as your main residence. If you live in your holiday caravan, it would be in breach of our planning and Site Licence, and you would have none of the protection in law provided to occupiers of residential parks. We ask all our customers for proof (at the outset and at intervals you are reminded to keep this information up to date) that they have a genuine permanent home address elsewhere. A ‘paper’ address is not enough: you must really live there. We are required to ensure the holiday caravans are for holiday use only so, for example, our customers should not work locally and commute from their holiday caravan or enrol children into local schools. They should be registered to vote at their main place of residence too. This important holiday requirement and must be respected. If you broke this, you would be asked to stop doing so. If you were to fail to comply, we would be entitled to ask you to remove your holiday caravan. The Planning authority might also take action against you, for breach of the holiday rule.

What happens if my circumstances change?

Your holiday caravan cannot be used as a main residence, even on a temporary basis.
